Tianjin in 3 days — city plus a Jizhou escape
Three days lets you do the riverside core properly and still take one full Jizhou day trip without rushing. Days 1–2 cover the Eye, the streets and the museums; day 3 is the choice between the Huangyaguan Great Wall with the Dule Temple, or the Panshan mountain. Both are ~110 km north.
Set up Alipay for metro QR, DiDi and bikes. Book the Tianjin Eye real-name ticket ahead with your passport. For day 3, hire a car or join a shuttle to Jizhou (~110 km north); the Huangyaguan cable car and the Panshan cable car both close some Mondays.
Day 1 — The riverside core
Same as the 2-day plan: the headline sights.
- 09:00 Tianjin Eye 1 hr — the riverside Ferris wheel; book ahead.
- 10:30 Ancient Culture Street + Drum Tower 2 hr — the folk lane and the old city quarter.
- 13:30 Italian Style Town 1.5 hr — the piazza and cafés.
- 15:30 Five Great Avenues 2 hr — the villa grid at dusk.
- 19:30 Haihe River Cruise 1 hr — the lit bridges from the water.
Day 2 — Museums & the old quarters
The softer Tianjin rhythm.
- 09:30 Tianjin Museum 2.5 hr — the flagship collection; free, pre-book.
- 12:30 Guangdong Guild Hall 1.5 hr — the carved opera theatre; short show.
- 14:30 Jingyuan (Puyi's Residence) 1 hr — the last emperor's villa.
- 16:30 Xikai Church + Binjiang Road 1.5 hr — the cathedral and the shopping drag.
Day 3 — Option A: Huangyaguan Great Wall & Dule Temple
The restored mountain wall with a Tang-era temple, ~110 km north.
- 08:00 Drive north to Jizhou ~1.5 hr by hired car or shuttle.
- 10:00 Huangyaguan Great Wall 2.5 hr — the restored wall on the ridge; cable car if open.
- 14:00 Dule Temple 1.5 hr — the Tang-dynasty wooden hall in Jizhou town.
- 18:00 Return to Tianjin Dinner back in the Haihe core.
Day 3 — Option B: Panshan Mountain
The wooded "East Mount Tai", ~110 km north — cable car up, trail down.
- 08:00 Drive north to Panshan ~1.5 hr by hired car or shuttle.
- 10:00 Panshan Mountain 4 hr — the pine ridge and temples; cable car both ways if tired.
- 16:00 Return to Tianjin Back for an easy evening by the river.
Practical notes
- Day 3 is one trip, not both. Huangyaguan+Dule or Panshan — pick by energy and interest.
- Jizhou is ~110 km and half a day round trip. Hire a car or join a shuttle; leave the core by 08:00.
- Watch Monday maintenance. The Tianjin Eye and both Jizhou cable cars close some Mondays; shuffle around it.
- Keep the Eye on day 1. It is the one fixed booking; the rest flexes around closures.
