The Porcelain House (Cifangzi) is a 1920s mansion in central Tianjin covered in millions of porcelain shards, whole vases and ceramic murals. The outside alone stops traffic. Inside, every wall is a glittering, chaotic collage of china.

Intro: why go

A local collector clad the whole building in porcelain as a personal obsession. The result is loud, weird and oddly beautiful. For a foreign visitor it is the most “only in Tianjin” sight after the Eye. You either love it or find it silly.

Tickets & booking

Expect about $7 at the box office (verify on site, as prices shift). Buy at the gate; no advance booking is usually needed. The ticket covers the house and the courtyard of antique stone carvings. Students and seniors may get a discount — ask and show your passport.

How to get there & in-site route

Facilities

A small shop sells porcelain trinkets at the exit. Toilets are basic. The rooms are narrow with steps, so strollers are awkward. Cards and Alipay work at the box office; the shop prefers Alipay.
